Initially when a new astrograss surface is installed, the moss and algae have great difficulty growing in the pure sand used. However over a period of time, the surface will become contaminated with atmospheric waste, pollution, leaves, material on shoes etc, allowing nutrients for the moss and algae to grow. Regular maintenance will prolong the lifespan of the surface, aesthetically, your court will look neat and tidy at all times and provide ideal conditions for your game.
